London, England As it was not a weekend day, I thought it was safe to venture a tour of Borough Market, a fabulous collection of all things good to eat near London Bridge. We stayed near here several years ago, and admired it immensely.
This would not be the place for the budget-conscious to do a weekly shop. But if one were looking for that special something, or an outstanding version of something, do come for a visit.
It is a festival of the exotic and the ordinary, but the ordinary elevated to rarified heights. I strolled the entire market and took in all the sights and aromas that it offered for absolutely free.

But there was more – everything from oysters to truffles, extremely popular chocolate-covered strawberries, and sausage rolls.

After a very lazy Monday spent doing laundry and getting a bit better organized, it was nice to be out and about, though I was often surrounded by my own countrymen.
I think of Borough Market as an art museum of fine food, where you can consume the exhibits. Well done!
A short walk to the river got me to the recreation of the Golden Hinde, the ship on which Sir Francis Drake circumnavigated the globe. It is believed to be a fairly accurate representation, and is available for touring — except this afternoon, when it was let to a private party. But I got the idea.

Its location allows for a view of very modern neighbors — the Gherkin, the Shard and the Walkie-Talkie. What a melange!

Once again, you have taken my to places that are new to me. The photos are marvelous but I would like one of you in it to add to my Christmas card section: “Places I didn’t visit but friends did”
The skyline one with the older building still there was a perfect example of then and now architecture.
You know we’re in the witness protection program and keep our photos restricted!
Okay. I’ll just include a photo and say it’s from JB and DC.
Love the visual feasts.
