Edinburgh, Scotland Yes, our trip had a few glitches, as they all do. But overall, it was a relaxed and rewarding trip through a very special part of the world for us.
It’s hard to find one picture that sums it all up. But I think it’s important to cover a feature of Edinburgh that tells you a lot about Scottish national pride.
That would be the Sir Walter Scott monument, which you almost can’t miss from anywhere in the city. He sits all alone in his cathedral to Scottish nationalism and the romantic Scottish Renaissance movement.
That’s why they love him so, because he resurrected the nobility of all their history, and gave them a renewed sense of patriotism.

Many of his works remain classics of European and Scottish literature, notably Ivanhoe, Rob Roy, Waverley, Old Mortality, The Heart of Mid-Lothian, and The Bride of Lammermoor, along with the narrative poem The Lady of the Lake and the Waverly novels. (But have you read any of them?)
You have to admire a country who so honors a novelist and poet.
Every bit of England and Scotland has either charmed, amused, or enlightened us. But it’s time to say goodbye to Great Britain, which is truly great in our book.
Long may we continue to come as pilgrims and visitors.

And you know you are always welcome because you come informe, interested and enthusiastic, and we have such fun with both of you! Goodbye dear friends. In the words of a WW11 song, “Here’s to the next time we shall be together”. J&A
What a great travelogue, next best thing to being there. Next stop Florida??
Good luck with your flights back home, hope they all go smoothly!
Thanks for a wonderful trip.
