It’s all happening at the zoo…

London

Someone told me it’s all happening at the zoo
I do believe it
I do believe it’s true

Thank you, Simon and Garfunkel. We have always taken your words to heart, and often make a special effort to visit the local zoo when traveling. Today, it was London’s turn, as somehow we have managed to miss this zoo up to now.

We did have a choice of days, but we thought we’d take the chance that the rain would be slight or intermittent today. That was an optimistic projection, so we did return home thoroughly drenched.

But it wasn’t just the two of us who thought the rain was a bit much. Unfortunately, many of the animals also thought it would be more sane to cozy up in their favorite secret corners, reading a good mystery and having a cup of tea. However, some made brief appearances.

There were many cheery animal moments, but the best part of the zoo for us was the Land of the Lions, which focused on Gujarat in India. Whoever put it together took great care to bring a witty sense of this wonderful part of the world to life. Having been there, we were delighted to see our favorite mode of transportation, the noble tuk-tuk, along with signage and vignettes that put the animals in a clever representation of their native habitat.

We’re going to take the zoo dwellers’ example and have a nice cozy (and dry) evening.
