Getting in a Greek state of mind

Interesting day, today. We left crazy Naples in the morning and flew to Athens, where we had only about 30 minutes to make a connection to Crete.

We made it, with even a few minutes to spare. Unfortunately our luggage was not so lucky.

But the folks here in Heraklion are quite concerned and we trust that they will do their best to get our bag to us at some point. Luckily, we had our bathing gear with us, so sitting by the pool for an hour seemed like the best way to chill.

Later we explored the town, which seems upscale – at least compared to many parts of Naples. We foraged for some necessary toiletries to get us through the next day (none of which are pictured), and then went out to dine.

Not a full day, but an average one in the life of a traveler. Bet we’ll sleep well tonight – even without our jammies.

Don’s Cretan Food Corner

Not too much to report today.  We ran across the square in front of the hotel and jumped into a large restaurant promising Greek specialties.  Jo had a lamb souvlaki platter and I had a beef/lamb kebab.  I don’t think we tasted the finest that Crete has to offer. But we remain optimistic — for both our luggage and future meals.
