The Great River Road

We realized recently that the Great River Road of our Louisiana plantation days extends all the way up the Mississippi River, through ten states.

So we weren’t surprised to see that we were on it once again when we got the charming river town of Sainte Genevieve, on the Missouri side of the river.

Here you see the remnants of the French presence in what became the Louisiana Purchase through some wonderful 18th and early 19th century homes .

This town helps make the case for another journey – this one along the Great River Road!
