Wales as seen through a window

We took a long and lovely train trip today on “The Heart of Wales,” a single-car train that runs, as the name suggests, through some of the heartlands of Wales. It serves a number of rural centers, including several once-fashionable spa towns.

Though we will be returning to Wales, our final destination today was Chester, an amazingly lovely English city close to the Welsh border. Its charms will be further explored tomorrow, but for today’s adventures, we did have some beautiful views and vistas to admire as we trundled through the heart of the Welsh countryside. It was a serene and peaceful experience, even if a spotty window did separate us from the green and the sheep. It was great fun just looking at the Welsh place names.
