It was a gorgeous day on Cap Gris-Nez, and – as promised – we could actually see the famous white cliffs of Dover, looming a mere 19 miles away.

Saturday afternoon in Saint-Omer
We weren’t exactly invited to the wedding, but it was nice to see one taking place in the very old cathedral of Notre Dame in the town of Saint-Omer.

Hard to believe that we could use a vacation, but the truth is we are now spending three days in the resort town of Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, and, so far, it’s just what the doctor ordered.

A star is born
We saw a lovely exhibit today about the “New Look” in our current home of Granville. Why Granville? It may be the Monaco of the North and the residence of a key Grimaldi ancestor, but it was also the childhood home of Christian Dior.
History, as always, told by the conqueror
Call it sheer coincidence that we chose yesterday to visit Bayeux. We must have had battles on our minds, given all the noise from the 200th anniversary of Waterloo drifting across the Channel from England. Yes, there is a certain irony in our timing.
